Legacy of Love is the online home of Dr. Kirk Love — bringing together his private work with people, writings, reflections, books, and Transmissions within one intentional space.

With a doctorate in psychology and thirty years of practice, Kirk's work has evolved beyond the conventions of traditional psychotherapy. The website needed to communicate an approach that is deeply personal and difficult to place within a familiar professional category — without reducing it to conventional therapy language or over-explaining it.

The goal was to create a digital experience that felt quiet, intimate, and considered, while giving visitors enough clarity to understand Kirk's perspective, explore his writing, and decide whether they wanted to begin a conversation.

The challenge was finding the balance between clarity and mystery, expression and restraint — communicating what Kirk does while preserving the openness that is fundamental to his work.

The Approach

The website was approached through an editorial lens, allowing Kirk's words and philosophy to remain at the centre of the experience.

Art direction, typography, selected imagery, texture, movement, and custom layouts establish the atmosphere, while the site structure creates clear pathways between learning about Kirk, understanding his work, reading his Transmissions, exploring his books, and getting in touch.

Content & Structure

Kirk's work does not fit neatly within the conventions of a traditional psychology or professional services website, so the structure needed to provide clarity without forcing it into language or categories that didn't feel authentic.

The content was organized to let visitors progressively understand his perspective — moving from who he is and how he works to his writings and, ultimately, the invitation to begin a conversation.

Particular attention was given to:

• Creating a clear journey through an unconventional offering

• Giving long-form writing space to unfold naturally

• Structuring the Transmissions as an ongoing collection

• Connecting Kirk's philosophy with the practical details of working with him

Art Direction

The visual direction was developed around the contemplative nature of Kirk's writing and work.

Using the photography provided, I selected and paired images with individual pages and passages, considering composition, scale, and pacing rather than treating imagery as decoration.

Expressive typography, a restrained palette, generous negative space, and subtle background textures give the site depth and tactility while keeping the words central.

A custom editorial-style header moves away from the conventions of a traditional professional website and establishes the distinctive identity of Legacy of Love from the first interaction.

Website Design

The website was custom designed and developed on Squarespace with an emphasis on reading, atmosphere, and movement.

Long-form passages are balanced with larger photographic moments, changes in scale, and intentional areas of space, creating pauses as visitors move through the content.

Custom interactions were introduced selectively — including imagery that gently appears and disappears, subtle transitions, and controlled movement — adding another layer to the experience without distracting from Kirk's words.

The Transmissions, books, newsletter, and private work were each given their own purpose within the site while remaining visually and conceptually connected.
