Veronica Rutledge

Perspective.

Veronica Rutledge is an experienced motion picture editor whose credits include productions for Netflix, Hulu, Paramount+, and other major studios and networks. As her career expands into directing, she needed a portfolio that could represent both sides of her work — and feel as distinctive as the projects she helps bring to screen.

Her existing Squarespace site was functional but extremely minimal: a selection of film and television posters, basic navigation, and little opportunity to experience her work beyond the credits themselves.

The goal was to transform that foundation into a cinematic portfolio with a strong identity of its own — showcasing Veronica's established editing career while creating space for directing and her wider creative perspective.

The Approach

The transformation began by developing the visual identity the original website was missing.

Rather than allowing individual productions — each with completely different art direction — to determine the look of the portfolio, I created a visual system that could bring them together without competing with the work.

That identity became the foundation for a new website structure, image-led project presentation, custom video experience, project pop-ups, and an editorial blog.

Visual Identity

Veronica didn't have an established visual identity, so I developed one around the world of filmmaking and the personality she wanted the portfolio to convey.

A dark, muted foundation creates a cinematic backdrop for film imagery, contrasted with an electric green accent that gives the website an immediate signature.

Bold condensed typography brings impact and confidence, while monospaced type introduces a subtle reference to scripts and the filmmaking process. Rounded framing, graphic lines, oversized titles, and intentionally off-kilter compositions extend that language throughout the site.

The identity is strong enough to make the portfolio recognizable as Veronica's while remaining flexible around productions with radically different aesthetics.

Content & Structure

The original website positioned Veronica almost entirely through a small selection of editing credits. The new structure needed to communicate both what she is known for and where her career is heading.

Editing and directing became two immediate entry points from the homepage, giving each discipline a defined place within the portfolio.

The Editing section allows productions to be browsed visually, while deeper project information and editing clips remain directly accessible without requiring visitors to navigate through a series of separate pages.

A dedicated Reveries blog introduces another dimension to the site — a space for thoughts in process, observations, fragments, and film sketches that sit outside the structure of her professional credits.

Website Design & Development

The Squarespace site was redesigned around film imagery, video, and a more immersive way of experiencing Veronica's work.

Production stills take the place of a conventional poster grid, allowing visitors to encounter the projects through the scenes themselves rather than solely through promotional artwork.

Custom project pop-ups open directly over the Editing portfolio. Each creates a dedicated viewing space where project information and multiple clips from Veronica's editing work can live together, while keeping the main portfolio visually focused and easy to browse.

The video presentation was customized to integrate naturally with the visual identity rather than appearing as a collection of standard embedded players.

Across the site, responsive layouts, oversized typography, image treatments, navigation, transitions, and custom interactions carry the visual language from desktop through mobile.

The system was also designed for Veronica to manage independently, supported by documented customizations, a dedicated guide, and a personalized video walkthrough.

Her editing work can now be experienced through both imagery and the scenes themselves, while directing has a defined place alongside her established career. Reveries adds a more personal layer, providing space for the ideas and experimentation that exist beyond finished productions.

The visual system brings projects with dramatically different aesthetics under one recognizable identity without competing with their individual character.

What was once a functional work-sample page is now a distinctive professional portfolio that communicates Veronica's experience, perspective, and the direction her career is taking next.
