Nadia Fares, Director & Screenwriter

Cinematic. Resonant. IMMERSIVE.

Nadia Fares is an Egyptian-Swiss director and screenwriter whose films and documentaries uncover untold stories of women, identity, and cultural displacement. Her award-winning work spans fiction and documentary, from acclaimed features such as Honey and Ashes to poetic, politically charged films like Big Little Women.

When Nadia first reached out, she asked for help improving SEO on her existing Wix site. Another public figure with the same name dominated search results, creating confusion around her professional identity. But as I reviewed her site, it became clear that optimization alone wasn’t the answer. Without content structure, hierarchy, and a strong digital foundation, SEO work could not be effective.

The solution was a complete redesign and platform migration. By moving her portfolio website to Squarespace, we were able to create a professional, future-ready presence that not only resolved the identity issue but also reflected the cinematic, layered quality of her work.

The Challenge

Nadia’s story and body of work were rich, but scattered. Over decades, her films, press, and recognition had accumulated across festivals, articles, and archives without a cohesive digital home.

The challenges included:

  • Identity clarity: Distinguishing her professional presence from another artist with the same name.

  • Content structure: Integrating an extensive body of work — films, press, interviews, awards, and projects in development — into a clear, navigable whole.

  • Professional positioning: Ensuring her platform felt authoritative for producers, collaborators, and festival juries worldwide.

  • Cinematic resonance: Designing a site that feels immersive without overwhelming, intimate yet dignified, echoing the rhythm of her cinema.

The Approach

The redesign was approached like a film: carefully structured, visually layered, and emotionally paced. Every element — from navigation to typography — was chosen to reflect her cinematic language while providing clarity for an international audience.

  • Platform Migration & SEO Foundation
Moving from Wix to Squarespace provided a stronger foundation for SEO. Structured metadata, optimized titles, and page architecture now ensure she is found as the Nadia Fares — director and screenwriter.

  • Modular Architecture
I built a flexible, modular website structure that could hold her evolving portfolio. This allows her to continue adding films, awards, and press features without losing cohesion.

  • Narrative-First Design
The About page was written and refined as a director’s statement — intimate yet authoritative, placing her voice at the heart of the site.

  • Editorial Layouts
Cinematic stills, restrained palettes, and typographic hierarchy give the site rhythm, echoing the pacing of a film while letting the work breathe.

Core Pages

  • Homepage — Refined introduction with cinematic stills, positioning, and SEO clarity.

  • Films & Series — Curated showcase of feature films, series, and documentaries with synopses, trailers, and press highlights.

  • Press & Awards — Dedicated space for recognition, interviews, and festival features.

  • About & Statement — A manifesto-like statement that articulates her vision with intimacy and authority.

  • Contact — Clear and professional pathways for producers, collaborators, and festival juries.

The design leaned into cinematic stills, minimalist layouts, and typographic hierarchy to let her work breathe. Subtle interactions and layered grids gave the site rhythm — echoing the pacing of a film.

Features & Highlights

  • SEO Clarity & Identity Protection — Targeted metadata and optimized structure to secure her professional presence.

  • Cinematic Layouts — Wide stills, editorial typography, and layered grids echo art-house sensibilities.

  • Scalable Structure — Built to grow with her ongoing projects, adaptable for new films, series, and awards.

  • Narrative Integration — The About page positions her voice as central to her practice.

  • International Orientation — Designed for collaborators and juries across Europe, the Middle East, and North America.

The Result

Nadia’s new Squarespace website positions her as an internationally recognized filmmaker with a clear and distinct digital identity. It captures her cinematic voice — bold yet poetic, intimate yet resonant — while providing a professional platform for press, partners, and audiences worldwide.

With a timeless design and optimized, easy-to-update structure, her portfolio website now evolves seamlessly alongside her career. What began as an SEO request became a full translation: a curated digital archive that safeguards her identity, amplifies her voice, and mirrors the immersive quality of her films — a platform that supports her work now and into the future.
